How to schedule and publish to Instagram with Sheevook

Visual-first. Reels for reach, carousels for saves. Sheevook turns one approved idea into an Instagram-native post - grounded in the platform's real rules, not a generic cross-post - then schedules it and measures what it drove.

Sheevook publishes to Instagram for real, through a live connection. A Instagram post is an image or a video rather than text, so a draft publishes here once you have attached or composed the creative for it, and Sheevook says so plainly rather than posting something empty.

Is Instagram worth your time?

Worth it when your product photographs well or your team is willing to be on camera. For pure B2B software with nothing visual to show, the effort rarely pays back against LinkedIn or X.

Before you connect

  • Needs a Business or Creator account - Instagram's API rejects a personal account, so connect will fail on one.
  • That account must be linked to a Facebook Page. The Graph API reaches Instagram through the Page, so without the link there is nothing to connect.
  • Every Instagram post is an image or a video - there is no text-only post - so a variant with no creative attached can't be published here.
  • Publishing needs the instagram_content_publish permission, which Meta grants only through App Review with Business Verification passed first. Replies work immediately; a publish before that approval is refused by Instagram, not by this app.
  • Instagram fetches the creative from this app, so it has to be reachable from the internet: deploy it (or expose it with a tunnel) and set PUBLIC_BASE_URL.

Instagram ranks watch time and forwards

Instagram's own leadership named the three signals that matter most across every surface: how long people watch, how often people send a post to someone in a direct message, and likes relative to reach. Sends are the strongest lever for reaching people who do not already follow you, and carry several times the weight of a like.

Saves matter too, particularly for carousels and anything educational. So does staying on one topic, because the system classifies your account and shows it to people interested in that subject. Hopping between unrelated themes makes you harder to classify and cheaper to ignore.

Originality is enforced, and the enforcement got stricter in 2026. When Instagram finds the same content in two places it recommends only the original. The rule now covers photos and carousels, not just video. Visibly watermarked video is ineligible for recommendations outright, and accounts that mostly repost are de-recommended across discovery surfaces. Exporting a clean file and uploading it natively is not a nicety here.

What gets a Instagram post buried

  • Uploading a watermarked export

A visible logo from another app makes a video ineligible for recommendations. Export clean and upload natively, every time.

  • Expecting a caption link to work

Captions are not clickable. The link lives in the bio, a Story sticker, or a direct message, and the caption has to say so.

  • Hashtag stuffing

Twenty generic tags reads as spam and does not beat better content. A small number of specific, relevant tags is the norm.

  • Optimizing for likes

Likes are the weakest of the three main signals. If a post is not worth sending to a friend or saving for later, the like will not rescue it.

Publishing to Instagram with Sheevook, step by step

  1. 1

    Get your Instagram account ready

Create the account: Sign up, then switch to a Business or Creator account in Settings - required for the Graph API. Link a Facebook Page: Instagram engagement runs through the Meta Graph API, which requires the account be linked to a Facebook Page.

  2. 2

    Connect Instagram to Sheevook

On the Platforms screen, register the developer app (or use the managed connection), then click Connect and approve access. Sheevook keeps the connection on the server, never in your browser, and renews it for you before it expires.

  3. 3

Write once, let Sheevook tailor it

Write your post once. Sheevook re-authors it natively for Instagram, inside the 2,200-character limit, with a per-platform diff showing exactly what changed, and it blocks a near-copy of another platform's version before it schedules. The voice it writes in: Warm, visual, personable. Hook in the first line.

  4. 4

    Schedule or publish

Pick a time (or let Sheevook choose the best open slot for Instagram), or publish now. Turn on Repeat weekly to make it recurring - each run gets fresh copy automatically.

  5. 5

    See what actually worked

After it publishes, Sheevook reads back the real engagement Instagram reports, and where a link was posted it ties clicks and conversions to the post. Results rank on outcomes, never on vanity reach.

What wins on Instagram

  • Design the caption to be forwarded in a DM - sends per reach is the top signal for new reach
  • Keep the Reel to one idea and a story arc that holds the first 3 seconds; skip rate buries Reels, saves and shares expand them
  • Front-load searchable keywords (category, use case) so IG Search surfaces it
  • Drive clicks via 'link in bio' or 'comment X and I'll DM the link' - captions aren't clickable
  • Lead with carousels (saves) and Reels (cold-audience discovery), not static images

Instagram questions people actually ask

Can a tool publish to Instagram automatically?
Yes, with a catch: Instagram publishes through the Content Publishing API, but it has no text-only post, so every Instagram post needs an image or a video attached. Attach creative to the variant and Sheevook publishes it. The one gate is Meta's own App Review for content publishing on your connected account; until that is granted, Instagram falls back to replying to comments as your account.
Do hashtags still do anything on Instagram?
A little, and much less than they did. Keyword-rich captions now carry more discovery weight because Instagram search reads the words in your caption. Use a handful of specific tags and spend the effort on the caption instead.
Reels, carousels, or single images?
Reels for reach, carousels for depth and saves, single images last. Static images consistently get the least distribution of the three.
